The non-FIE options don't come with a soft FIE pad, this version can be used for US Domestic competition in epee and sabre.

The FIE options come with the soft foam cover and can be used for all 3 weapons for both domestic and international competitions. 

Foilists are required to use the FIE version for all competitions (both domestic and international)
